The epic wordsmith, small press publisher, editor, reviewer and all-around force of nature Des Lewis turns 78 on 18 January 2026. I submit proof, below, that the human brain, like fine wine and some Italian dishes, is even better with age.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had my novel Knucklebones be the subject of not one but two of Des' - what can we call them? Perhaps re-says? as he has reinvented both the essay and the review, creating something vital and living and yes, cosmic, rather than simply dead words on recycled paper or as is more likely these days, a screen. Any suggestions please put in the comments, below. Thank you, Des - this sort of understanding is a writer's dream.
